Three departments under one roof, each doing its own job. Here is what you will find in each before you come by.

THE GREENGROCER
This is where the shop began and it is still what the shop is judged on. Fruit and vegetables arrive fresh, get checked, and go out by season rather than by price list. In winter the counter fills with oranges, quinces, chestnuts and walnuts. In summer it is strawberries, watermelons and tomatoes. Anything below par does not go out at all, and that is why the word hand-picked keeps coming up in the reviews.

THE COFFEE
The coffee counter runs from the minute we open. Coffee is pulled on the machine by hand rather than dispensed by an automat, which is why most of the neighbourhood picks theirs up on the way to work. Alongside it there are breakfasts, sandwiches and savoury pies, and there are tables outside for anyone who would rather sit. It is the reason the shop fills twice a day, early in the morning and again in the afternoon.

THE MINI MARKET
Behind the produce and the coffee there is a proper grocery. Fresh milk, cheese and cold cuts in the fridges, pasta, pulses and tinned goods on the shelves, a drinks section with wine and spirits, ice cream, cleaning products, paper goods, nappies, and firewood in winter. This is the department that matters at eleven at night, when one thing is missing and you would rather not drive to a supermarket for it.

GOOD TO KNOW
A few things first-time visitors usually ask.
- We do not publish a price list. Prices move with the season and with availability, so we would rather quote you correctly on the phone or at the counter.
- There is outdoor seating next to the entrance.
- The business is family run and the staff speak Greek and English.
- If you are after something specific, one phone call before you come saves you the trip.
